Toners

A "toner" is applied to the face with a cottonball after cleansing. Toners close and tighten pores after they have been expanded and irritated during the cleansing process. Toning also prevents oiliness because it tightens the pores and therefore prevents oil from escaping through the skin.

Commonly used, effective toners:

  • Pure Witch Hazel (Strongest and most natural)

  • Givenchy Tone It True Matifying Lotion

  • Clean and Clear Oil Controlling Toner
  • Clinique Clarifying Lotion

  • Neutrogena Acne Stress-Control Triple-Action Toner

WARNING
If you have sensitive and/or acne-prone skin, STAY AWAY from astringents (similar to toners, but more alcohol-concentrated), especially those produced by Neutrogena. They will make you break out.
